Can you imagine a pagoda entirely covered in sheets of gold and precious stones? As you read, 27 tons of gold, more than 2,000 rubies, and twice as many diamonds will dazzle you during your visit to the Shwedagon Pagoda, at the top of Singuttara Hill in Yangon, the country's capital. It is the oldest in Myanmar and one of the oldest pagodas in the world, as legend has it, it is around 2,500 years old.
"The largest diamond on this monument is no less than 72 carats!"
Inside, it houses four relics of Buddha and all the gold that covers it is the result of the devotion of the faithful, who donate pieces of this material as a custom that dates back to the 15th century, when the Queen of Bago, Shinsawbu donated her weight in gold. Luckily for her, she only weighed 40kg. During your visit to the Shwedagon Pagoda, you will also be amazed by the hundreds of temples, stupas, statues, altars, and shrines that complete the complex, like the one of Mahabodhi, inspired by the temple of the same name in India. Are you coming to walk barefoot through the monuments of Shwedagon?

I like to explore off the beaten path, where the known lacks mystery. Traveling alone allows me to discover remote places, enjoy landscapes, and learn from local communities. I am a free spirit who follows his impulses and enjoys every moment, choosing destinations without hesitation, as each place has its own soul.
