Trips to Mingun

Visiting Mingun is a journey to the past of Myanmar and its traditions as you walk through its ruins dotted with monuments, such as the Incomplete Stupa which, according to belief, when completed, would bring about the end of the Burmese Empire. Even so, it has the honor of being recognized as the largest pile of bricks in the world. But that is not the only record of Mingun. Another impressive monument you will find when visiting Mingun is the Hsinbyume Pagoda, which was constructed after the death of a Burmese princess and attempts to emulate the famous Mount Meru from Buddhist mythology. And on the banks of the Ayeyarwady River, the Chinthes statues, half-lion, half-dragon guardians, are so imposing that they will make you tremble even though their forms have been blurred by erosion and the passage of time.
